Heather Hastings
CADC
Substance Abuse Councelor
My goal for the people I work with is to feel as though they are joyfully, thriving in their chosen lifestyle. Through individualized treatment planning for substance abuse disorders I walk with clients while they find clarity to best understand their needs, strengths, and goals.
I have found that people make changes when they are ready, and I use motivational interviewing to assist with this. I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental environment to empower people to heal from their experiences and trauma and work toward a more fulfilling life. At times life can be stressful and coping can be difficult, substance abuse becomes an escape. I enjoy assisting people to better identify their emotions and learn healthier ways of coping with them. Quitting substances is not enough, for lasting change to happen people need to develop harmony with their lives.
I would like each of my clients to feel a sense of peace that comes with living authentically. I have found that mindfulness can assist with this. Learning who we are can build self-worth and create an enthusiasm for living. I offer a strength- based approach by listening compassionately and encouraging positive interactions while also challenging behaviors that may need to be reevaluated. I am a down to earth counselor that has a passion for helping families and individuals.
